Serial Killer on the loose :
On July 3, 2009, police in Gaffney, North Carolina confirmed that they were looking for a serial killer. The same suspect is believed to have shot and killed five people in the area in five days. The first murder took place on June 27, 2009.

On July 6, 2009, police shot and killed a man who they believe were responsible for the killings. The man, 41-year-old Patrick Tracy Burris, was shot after officers responded to a burglary complaint. The gun he was armed with was linked to the other killings

Teen Dies After Being Shot by Serial Killer

Authorities say a teenage girl who was shot in her father's store has become the fifth person slain by a suspected serial killer.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says Abby Tyler, 15, died at a Spartanburg, S.C., hospital Saturday morning. She was wounded and her father was killed Thursday at their family's shop near downtown Gaffney.

Sheriff Bill Blanton said investigators think the killings are linked, and the search is on for the suspected killer. An 83-year-old mother and her daughter were killed Wednesday, and a farmer was found dead a week ago.
